Front Office Clerk Job Description

The front office clerk is the first face that all patients see when they enter our facility. They should always have a smile on their face and bring a friendly tone when speaking with patients. They are responsible for checking in/out patients, collecting money, scheduling appointments, and utilizing our many technological resources to do the above. They also assist the medical records department. This person must be team-oriented.

Job Duties for Front Office Clerk

  • Checks patients in for their appointment upon arrival.
  • Collect co-pays, balances and co-insurance payments from the patients.
  • Check out patients and schedule appointments
  • Responsible for safeguarding patient records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Other duties as needed.
  • Travel as needed to remote offices to cover.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous medical office experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Superior organizational skill.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of insurance is a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and the general use of a computer.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA medical privacy regulations and practices
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to work as part of a health care team
  • Able to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual is a plus!!
